Infant CPR
There are lots and lots of different classes you can take before baby gets here, and I do think that the infant CPR class would be in my top three for workshops or classes that new parents should take. Some people absolutely want to be prepared from the get-go so they take the course before baby is born, and others actually prefer to wait until baby starts being able to grab things since that’s when the risk of choking starts because they’re worried they’ll forget the information by the time it becomes relevant. Others are already trained in CPR and first-aid, and feel confident with the resources they’re able to find online to fill in any gaps or updates since their last course.
If you’re looking into a CPR course there are a couple different options. Some places like West End Mamas and Toronto Yoga Mamas offer CPR for free if you do their childbirth education classes, and there are also stand-alone CPR classes. There are also some short online classes you can take, and those are all easy google-able if you search “infant CPR Toronto”.
There’s no right or wrong answer when it comes to taking a CPR, more about just deciding if you’re interested or not and then trying to see how it fits in with your schedule. If you need any suggestions about different course options, please shoot me a message and I’m happy to help.
