The Miles Circuit
I get asked all the time about what the best method for natural induction is, and I really do think the absolute best thing any birther can do is help that baby get in the right position. Even with an ultrasound in the weeks leading up to the birth we don’t really know exactly what position baby is in when labour starts, so I’m a huge supporter of the Miles Circuit.
The Miles Circuit can be started at any time, and I usually suggest beginning to use it every other day around 39 weeks. The website advises to begin to do each position for 10 minutes, so it’s only a 30 minute commitment, and you’ll slowly work up to 30 minutes each for a total of a 90 minute circuit. Yes, you can absolutely start it earlier if you’d like, but my general guideline is to do the Miles Circuit between 37-38 weeks if the waters have released or broken or if contractions have started, and post 39 weeks if you’ve gotten that far.
The Miles Circuit is a fairly simple set of three exercises, two are passive and one is active, that you can do daily or once every couple days. It can be used to help reposition the baby, and it can help kickstart a stalled or slowed labour. Like you’ll see in the “Preparation” tab of the website, you’re going to need two main things: time and pillows. It’s boring, but you can bring a laptop and watch some Netflix or peruse Instagram, or just daydream about getting that baby in the perfect position so that labour unfolds just as it needs to.
I’ve linked the Miles Circuit below, http://www.milescircuit.com/the-circuit.html and I will without a doubt encourage you to use it at some point so take a look and let me know if you have any questions and when you try it!
